Rapaflo (Silodosin) is prescription medication that is classified as an alpha-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist.


What is Rapaflo used for?

It is used for the treatment of the signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)

How does it work?

It acts as an antagonist at alpha-1 adrenoreceptors which are located in the prostate, bladder base, bladder neck, prostatic capsule, and prostatic urethra. This antagonism improves urine flow and BPH symptoms.

Rapaflo (Silodosin) has not been tested in patients with hepatic impairment and as a result should be avoided in these patients.

Patients planning to have cataract surgery should inform their ophthalmologist that they are taking Rapaflo (Silodosin).
