What is Lotemax used for?

Lotemax is a corticosteroid that is used to treat post-operative inflammation and pain after eye surgery. It is also used for the treatment of conjunctivitis, dry eye syndrome, and seasonal allergic conjunctivitis.

How does it work? 

It exerts its effects as a corticosteroid by affecting the biosynthesis of potent mediators of inflammation.

Directions

How do I take Lotemax?

Lotemax should be taken as directed by your doctor. Shake the bottle before each use to ensure the medication is well mixed. Wash hands before and after using this medication and make sure the tip of the dropper does not touch the eye to prevent contaminating the bottle. If you wear contact lenses, remove them prior to using this medication and re-insert about 15 minutes after administering this medication.

What dosages are available?

Lotemax is available as a 0.2%, 0.25%, 0.5%, and 1% ophthalmic suspension and also as a 0.38% and 0.5% ophthalmic gel.

What is the recommended dosage?
