Famvir is also called famciclovir. It is an antiviral medicine given mostly to people who have a viral disease like genital herpes, shingles or cold sores. Famvir is also given to people who have HIV plus herpes infections around the mouth, anus and private parts. While it may not effectively treat your first genital herpes infection, Famvir can prevent another episode in future. It has also been found to be less effective when used by black people to treat herpes outbreaks in their genital areas. Also, Famvir may be less helpful in treating a person who has shingles around their eyes. Famvir does not remove herpes virus or any other virus from your system. It can still trigger another outbreak in future.

How To Use

First, don’t treat a child (anybody under 18 years old) with herpes infection with Famvir. Then, use the medication as suggested by the doctor. If you use a bigger dose that necessary, the medicine will not be more helpful. If treating genital herpes or HSV 1 of the mouth, take Famvir the soonest you spot a symptom.
