Exjade Information

Exjade is also called deferasirox. Once it attaches itself to iron, it removes it from the blood. Exjade is often given to people who have excessive iron due to receiving a blood transfusion. It is prescribed for treatment of severe iron overload syndrome in both adults and kids who are two years or older.  It can also be prescribed if the cause of excessive iron is non-transfusion-dependent thalassemia, a generic blood disorder.  In this case, only adults and kids who are ten years old or older can be given Exjade

How To Use

Ensure that you take Exjade the way the doctor wants. Also, go and do any clinical test that the doctor asks you.  Exjade must be taken every day on an empty stomach or about 30 minutes prior to eating. The medication should be taken whole; don’t crush, chew or split the tablet. Being a dispersible tablet, you can place it in a glass of water, apple juice or orange juice. Once it dissolves in the juice or water, swallow immediately. Don’t leave any residue in the glass. Put more water in the glass, swirl and drink. If taking less than 1000mg per day, you require half a cup of liquid. If taking more than 1000mg, you need a full cup of liquid. Don’t skip doses and if you do, take the forgotten dose as soon as possible. However, avoid it if you are about to take your next scheduled dose.
