Celebrex is a prescription medication that is classified as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).

What is Celebrex used for?

It is used to treat osteoarthritis, acute pain, rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA), ankylosing spondylitis, primary dysmenorrhea, and familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP).

How does it work?

Celecoxib inhibits prostaglandin synthesis through inhibition of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2).

This medication should be taken as directed by your physician. Use this medication at the lowest dose possible for you and for the shortest duration possible to reduce side effects. Initiating Celebrex should be used in caution in patients with a history of ulcer disease, high risk for GI events, GI bleeding, heart failure and advanced age.

Use Celebrex with caution in patients that present with CV disease as they are at higher risk.

It is highly suggested to not use celebrex in patients with aspirin triad as it may cause an anaphylactic reaction.
