Anandron is also marketed as Nilutamide. It is a medicine for treating men who have prostate cancer. Grouped among other non-steroidal anti-androgens, Anandron works by blocking the activity of androgen hormones. This stops the multiplication of cancer cells. Anandron's effectiveness is increased by prescribing it with LHRH agonists. It also works perfectly if it is given after undergoing a prostate cancer surgery. This being a prescription-only medication, you cannot take it without proper diagnosis and approval by a doctor.
How To Use
Anandron should be taken the way it’s prescribed by the doctor. Never create your own instructions or stop taking it without alerting your doctor. Normally, you should take one tablet twice a day. You can also take two tablets once daily. This should continue for the first 4 weeks.
After this, take just one tablet a day. Swallow your tablets with a glass of water without chewing them. When taking, you can eat first or avoid food. Both are acceptable. If you forget a dose and remember it soon after, take it. Otherwise, don’t take a skipped dose when you are almost taking your next-planned dose. Resume the normal dosing schedule instead.
Anandron can cause the following side effects:
- Eyes are unable to adapt to darkness or changes in light
If these worsen, call your doctor immediately. Also call them if you develop asthma-like symptoms, jaundice and signs of an allergy.
Prior to taking Anandron, let your physician know you have:
- An allergy to nilutamide
- An allergy to other medicines
- Asthma, shortness of breath or wheezing
- Swelling of the lips, tongue, lips or throat
- Skin hives, itch, rash
- Severe liver problems, severe breathing difficulty
- Taken other prostate cancer treatments that never helped.
