Pharmacist Tips

  • This medication is used to prevent pregnancy but does not prevent you from contracting HIV or other sexuall transmitted diseases. Use other methods of protection such as a condom to prevent the transmission of these infections.
  • If you miss your dose, you may be at risk for pregnancy. The risk of pregnancy varies based on when you missed your dose in your cycle and how for many days doses were missed. Let your doctor or pharmacist know if you have missed any doses and are worried about being pregnant.
  • An uncommon side effect of this medication is the development of a blood clot. This risk may be increased if you are a current cigarette smoker. If you feel pain, numbness, or tingling in your lower limbs and the area is hot to the touch, you may have a blood clot. If that is the case, immediately seek medical attention.
