Yes, a valid prescription from your doctor is required to process your order. Apidra SoloSTAR is a prescription medication and can only be sold with a prescription.

To process your order, you will need to submit a prescription. The prescription can be emailed ([email protected]), faxed (1-800-416-8019), or uploaded. Alternatively, we can reach out to your doctor to attain a valid prescription if you would like.

A 3-month supply (90 days) is the maximum amount that can be ordered at one time. Refills are kept on file for future orders. The amount that can be ordered will be based on the directions and quantity indicated on the prescription from your provider.

Yes. Apidra SoloSTAR will be shipped from our partner pharmacy in Canada to the U.S. within 4 to 5 business days. This medication will be shipped in special packaging, made up of an insulated cooler with gel and ice packs. An email notification will be sent to you once the item has been shipped. There are no shipping charges.

What is Apidra SoloSTAR?

Apidra SoloSTAR is a prescription medication that is classified as a rapid-acting insulin

What is Apidra SoloSTAR used for?

It is used for the treatment of type 1 diabetes mellitus and type 2 diabetes mellitus to help improve glycemic control.

How does it work?

It increases glucose uptake and inhibits hepatic glucose production which affects glucose metabolism and exerts its glucose-lowering effects.

How do I take Apidra SoloSTAR?

Step 1: Check the label on your SoloSTAR to make sure that you are using the correct insulin.

Step 2: You will need to attach a new needle with each use. Keep the needle as straight as possible when attaching it to your pen. The Apidra SoloSTAR uses screw-on or push-on needles.

Step 3: Perform a safety test to remove any air bubbles and ensure that your pen and needle are working correctly. Select a dose of 2 units. Make sure to always perform a safety test prior to each injection.

Remove the outer needle cap and keep it to remove the needle later after your injection. Then take off the inner needle cap and dispose of it in a sharps container. 

Hold the pen upright, with the need pointing upwards. Gently tap the reservoir to remove any air bubbles that are in the needle. 

Press the injection button all the way inwards and check if any insulin comes out of the needle. If no insulin, check for air bubbles and repeat the safety test two more times. If no insulin comes out a third time, try the safety test again with a new needle.

Step 4: Make sure that the dose window shows “0” after performing the safety test. Then select your prescribed insulin dose in 1-unit steps. If your required dose is > 80 units, you will need to use 2 or more injections.

Step 5: Use the injection method that your doctor or pharmacist showed you. You will either inject the needle subcutaneously in your upper arm, stomach area (abdomen), or thigh (upper leg).

Press the injection button all the way in. Hold the button in that position and slowly count to 10. Then, withdraw the needle.

Step 6: You must remove the needle after each injection and dispose of it appropriately in a sharps container. Place the outer needle cap back on the needle and use it to unscreen the needle from the pen.

Important: Injection sites should always be rotated within the same region (upper arm, stomach area, or thigh). This is to decrease the risk of lipodystrophy.

Apidra SoloSTAR comes in 100 units/mL (3mL) and contains metacresol. There are no generic options.

What should you know before you take Apidra SoloSTAR?

Hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia can occur with changes in manufacturer, insulin strength, and/or administration method.

Hypersensitivity reactions, including life-threatening reactions (anaphylaxis), can occur.

What are the side effects of Apidra SoloSTAR?

The most common side effects of Apidra SoloSTAR include:

• Severe hypoglycemia (type 1 diabetes), hypoglycemia
• Nasopharyngitis
• Upper respiratory tract infection 
• Peripheral edema (type 2 diabetes)
• Hypersensitivity reaction 
• Injection site reaction

Does this medication interact with other drugs, foods, or alcohol?

Avoid use with rosiglitazone and macrimorelin (Risk Category X).

How should this medication be stored?

Unopened pens should be refrigerated at 2°C-8°C (36°F-46°F). Keep pens away from light. Do not store pens in the freezer. Discard pens if they have been frozen.

Opened (in-use) pens should NOT be refrigerated. Store opened pens at 25°C (77°F) away from direct light and heat. The opened pens should be thrown away after 28 days from opening.

• You must regularly check your blood sugar levels while using an insulin. Your doctor will tell you how often you should check your blood sugar level. Your doctor will tell you what to do if your blood sugar levels are low or high.
• It is important that you rotate your injection site to decrease the risk of lipodystrophy.

Once you have opened/started using your Apidra SoloSTAR pen, you should NOT refrigerate it. Opened pens should be thrown away after 28 days from opening.
