The previous formulation of Qvar Redihaler was Qvar HFA and was discontinued in August 2017, Qvar Redihaler is now the formulation provided by Teva.

Does Qvar Redihaler help with shortness of breath?

Yes, Qvar works as a potent anti-inflammatory effect by acting topically in the lungs on inflammatory cells reducing the release of inflammatory mediators. This in turn helps to reduce the inflammation associated with asthma symptoms which can help reduce severity and frequency of asthma symptoms over time but does not work acutely on asthma symptoms.

Does Qvar lower your immune system?

In a mild sense Qvar can reduce the effectiveness of your immune system, but only topically in your airways. There is little to no systemic absorption of Qvar so it has little to no effect on the rest of your immune system.

What are side effects of Qvar Redihaler?

Some of the common side effects include; Oral Fungal Infections (Thrush), Cold Symptoms, and Pain in the throat.

What is the difference between Qvar and Albuterol

Qvar and Albuterol are both utilized for the treatment of asthma. They differ in their intended use and the mechanism of how they reduce asthma related symptoms. This inhaler contains beclomethasone dipropionate, a corticosteroid that reduces the effects of inflammatory effects within the lungs that are related to asthma symptoms and is intended to reduce the severity and frequency of symptoms over time and is not used in the acute setting. Albuterol, by comparison is a short acting beta agonist (SABA) inhaler that acts by relaxing the bronchial smooth muscles in your lungs allowing them to open up more there in relieving acute symptoms of asthma.
